Position Title: Student Assessment and Formative Evaluation Expert

 

Location: Suriname

 

Creative Associates International is hiring a Student Assessment and Formative Evaluation Expert for the anticipated IDB Suriname Curriculum Development in Lower Secondary Education project.

The goal of this project is to modernize the curriculum for Lower Secondary Education grades 9-12 of the General Secondary Education (AVO). The project will focus on reviewing and evaluating the current curriculum for grades 9-12; updating the curriculum, learning materials, and training of MOESC staff; and developing teacher training modules for master trainers.  

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: An advanced degree (at least a master's degree; doctorate preferred) in Student Assessment and Formative Evaluation.
  • Professional Experience: At least five years of documented experience in designing competency-based assessments, formative evaluations, and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Proficient in designing valid, reliable, and fair assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
    • Proficiency in formative, summative, diagnostic, and performance-based assessments.
    • Ability to develop standardized test items, including multiple-choice, constructed-response, rubrics, and adaptive testing.
    • Ability to interpret test validity and reliability.
  • Specialized Experience
    • Experience in designing and implementing formative assessments to guide instruction.
    • Experience in the application of progress monitoring tools and assessment-driven instructional strategies.
    • Demonstrated experience with conducting workshops on formative evaluation techniques.
    • Experience in working with education ministries, assessment bodies, and / or curriculum development teams.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.
