Overview

Creative is looking for a consultant to support initiatives related to corporate website maintenance and technical support services within the organization. Specifically, the consultant will ensure the corporate website is fully functional, up-to-date, secure and optimized for performance, providing users with a seamless experience.

Responsibilities

An overarching Renewable Consultant Ordering Agreement (RCOA) will be issued based on the applicant’s qualifications that align with those listed below as well as those listed in the individual’s submitted CV. Work orders for specific Scopes of Work that require this experience may be negotiated and issued against the RCOA as needed and in accordance with the consultant’s availability.

 

Monthly maintenance

  • Content Updates: Minor updates to website content as requested.
  • Backup Management: Verify that the website's backup system is functioning correctly and that recent backups are available.
  • Performance Optimization: Review and optimize website performance, including loading times and resource usage.
  • Monitor website analytics to track performance and user engagement and provide feedback to HQ Communications.
  • Make data-driven recommendations for website improvements based on analytics.

Weekly check-ins

  • Hosting Environment Monitoring: Check the hosting environment for any unusual activity, errors, or alerts. Identify and address any potential issues.
  • Plugin and Theme Updates: Review and update all plugins and themes to their latest stable versions. Ensure compatibility with the current WordPress version.
  • Analytics Review: Check Google Analytics or other analytics platforms to monitor website traffic, user behavior, and identify any unusual trends or issues.
  • Security Checks: Conduct a basic security scan to ensure there are no vulnerabilities or breaches.

Website security

  • Advise Creative’s HQ Communications team about relevant security issues.
  • Assess and address security vulnerabilities and breaches promptly.
  • Maintain security measures to protect the website from malware, hacking and similar threats.
  • Monitor and update website security software, plugins and more.

Bug identification and management

  • Bug Detection: Regularly inspect the website for any bugs or issues affecting its functionality, appearance, or user experience.
  • Bug Resolution: Address and resolve any prioritized bugs or issues promptly. If the issue requires additional time beyond the allotted monthly hours, I will notify you with an estimate for the additional work required.

Compliance and accessibility

  • Ensure the website complies with the Americans with Disabilities and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, as well as relevant laws, regulations and standards.
  • Ensure that the website is compliant with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Other

  • Assist the HQ Communications team to adjust website templates on an as-needed basis
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for website-related issues.
  • Respond to and resolve website downtime and other technical problems in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of proven professional experience in website maintenance and updates.
  • Proficiency with WordPress content management
  • Knowledge of web development languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Spoken and written English at a professional level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with global development and mission-driven organizations.
  • Availability for regular conference calls to review the site, including updates and analytics.
